Account recovery

Farcaster accounts now have the ability to be recovered. Our best estimate is 10-15% of all Farcaster users in the beta lost their recovery phrase.

If you know someone who lost their recovery phrase: 

Open the app > Login > I lost my recovery phrase to get started

Think of this as a user-controlled password reset for something onchain.

Users that sign up with Warpcast have this set by default. So we're able to offer password reset type functionality for an onchain primitive.

If you want to change it you can in Settings > Advanced > Change recovery address.

Worth pointing out: if you change it away from Warpcast, we can't manage the recovery flow for you. You would need to use Etherscan and manually call / construct the transaction. Someone could build a tool for this, though.

Each FID registration

FID - integer
Custody address - Ethereum address that can generate EdDSA signers for Hubs (Warpcast generates this in our sign up flow)
Recovery address - Warpcast managed address

If you create an account outside of Warpcast, you can use an existing Ethereum address for custody and recovery.

Does this mean you recover it by proving ownership of the underlying ETH wallet?
