How will replies work from non-members with the new channel model?

1. Only members can create a new cast in a channel

2. Anyone can reply to a cast in a channel

3. On Warpcast, member replies will appear "above the fold" and non-members will be below the fold in "Show more replies"

4. However, if the original cast author likes or replies a cast from a non-member—or a channel mod likes or replies—the cast will appear above the fold.

5. This balances the membership model for channels with the ability for discovering new people, highlighting their reply and potentially inviting them to the channel.

6. Since you can have up to 10 moderators in a channel, including helpful bots, we expect that people will build bots that help surface interesting replies for non-members (and possibly even auto-invite them). Developers will get creative.

7. Ultimately, your channel, your rules.

One other important note: there is no Warpcast spam filtering in the new version channels.

Bots shouldn't be in the main feed of channels today, so they won't convert to be members.

So the bots will initially move with the channels first but after some moderation be cleaned out?

Spam labels won't apply to channels.

Spam labels will apply to casts outside of a channel, i.e. the home feed.

Apologies if I’m misunderstanding, are you saying when new channel features go live, all spam labels are removed, everyone gets a fresh start, and it’s up to channel members to remove spammers by un-inviting them to our channels?

Aka, the spam algo is being turned off completely?

Will the spam filters still work for the replies to the casts on the home feed (that don’t belong to any channels)?

accounts in spam are usually in “more replies”

so non members of channels are now categorized as spam in replies

It is important that there is no spam filtering.

You're giving them another chance and taking the workload off your team!

So if someone were labeled spam it doesn't matter anymore?
