Users with priority mode turned on, like priority mode. Users without the power badge, don’t like priority mode and want more visibility to users with priority mode turned on. Making power badge more permissive, increases spam. Makes everyone unhappy (except the spammers) Solve for X.

Increase the percentage of users who are allowed to earn badges. Isn't it like 5% of DAU? Could we try 10% maybe?

Did not realize there was a hard limit on % of people who have the power badge. What’s the rationale on that? Why not have a threshold of engagement instead?

There are about 4000 people with power badges right now. I’m not sure if it’s a hard percentage or if that’s just what you get when all of the pieces of their algo come together. I like the idea of using a social graph to determine it. Or just hiding the purple badge so it’s not such a distraction.

We already use the social graph in priority mode.

Yeah, this is something we can do. I suspect it won't make a huge difference, though.
