Why now for the separation of protocol and client brand? Vs a year from now?

Will be confusing for some folks but encourages new 3rd party client development?

Short term pain for UX but long term gain for the protocol. It's a compounding benefit.

I agree, using the same name was actually confusing to me as a new-ish user. If the app is named the same as the protocol, how can I trust that the protocol is truly neutral, independent, and open to third parties?
