Why now for the separation of protocol and client brand? Vs a year from now? Will be confusing for some folks but encourages new 3rd party client development?

In retrospect, we should have done it last summer. It will be confusing, but I have high capacity to repeat the same message 1000x. :) Short term pain for UX but long term gain for the protocol. It's a compounding benefit.
