I'll repeat more broadly: decentralized social networks (whether crypto or non-crypto architectures) are limited by supply of interesting and entertaining content. If you increase the supply, audience will follow. Everything else is downstream of that.

The "interesting" qualifier is key: 1m carefully curated and thoroughly thought casts by me, are less interesting than a single "hello farcaster" cast from a sports, music or politics celebrity -or even their teenage kid. This has been the inflection point for every social network.

Genuine question: every platform wants this. How is this being tightly incentivized here? One real incentive is that it's decentralized. But that works to a degree but unclear if sufficient.

💯 but this might apply more to crypto/tech folks that can easily 'convert' their following from X, Insta etc and gain new followers on web3 social. For non web3 users building their 'credentials' for years, I wonder if interesting and entertaining content is enough for them to 'start' from scratch. Hope so.

Kind of random, but kinda related. Have you seen @mrfuego.eth's fireball drop? Super fun daily raffle where he drops chips on a plinko board with different caster names on it. Fairly entertaining. I think more content like this would do well here. https://warpcast.com/mrfuego.eth/0x42148a0e

Decentralization is appealing, but I would argue that beyond having more content, we need a new space that fights the problems of the incumbents by default. Misinformation will be a huge problem here just as everywhere else.

Yes, like every market place, having a strong supply is key. For Uber, it was about a high density of drivers, for a social network, it's about high volume of high quality content

I totally agree! The key to keeping a decentralized social network thriving is consistently providing engaging content that keeps users coming back for more. It's all about giving the audience what they want to see.

I like where your head is at about the content going beyond crypto. There's only so much meat on that skewer
