Am I on an autofollow list? Can I get taken off? I’m at 56k here in 10 months and 66k on twitter in 16 years. I think it’s gone up 20-25k in just 2-3 weeks. I wasn’t really looking before. No way this isn’t mostly spambots and randos. I’m not *that* charismatic. I prefer my reach and klout slow-cooked.

It's based on how engaging you are (proof of work!) but happy to tweak

Yeah please tweak and perhaps provide opt out for those who don’t want such algorithmic boosting. I prefer content-based followers not engagement-based.

I think, per usual, you're a rare one. Most people want number go up. :)

Been there done that paid costs. They’re used to web2 style engagement farming dopamine loop. I think we can do better with web3.

I'd argue that the large following is useful and what you're really looking for is a setting / client where you can filter out non-mutuals. So best of both worlds -- be able to broadcast to a large group when necessary but the client you use day to day could feel cozy

Umm, I subscribe to dark forest theory these days… uncontrolled visibility as default bad rather than default good https://onezero.medium.com/the-dark-forest-theory-of-the-internet-7dc3e68a7cb1
