Upcoming channel changes

We're *previewing* some upcoming changes so people 1) can understand and 2) provide feedback.

These changes are not launching yet. It will be a couple weeks. There will also be a bunch of communication to channel owners. 

After reading the entire doc, feel free to reply to with feedback or send me a DC. I've tried to answer a lot of common questions in the FAQ.

One important thing to consider with membership + single reverse chronological feed + hide:

Now, as a channel owner / moderator, you'll have 100% control of who and what appears in your channel's feed. 

Warpcast spam labels won't apply in your channel. 

If you add someone to your channel, they will appear to everyone in your channel regardless of whether people follow them are not.

Is there a plan for active channels that don't have an active owner?

APIs are available for developers to build that.

would we be able to use the higher token as membership??

Political activist. Founder of mydemocracy.app and /advocacy. Host of the /politics channel. RCs may or may not = endorsements.

If you block someone, you won't see them.

For the /politics channel, there are a few consistent casters that I know some people have blocked to avoid seeing their political posts. Will these casters now show up in everyone's feed under the new setup or will blocking someone still hide their posts in the channel?

Does channel membership include an auto function whereas you can invite someone with i.e (a token, an nft, high followers) I think, that would be a game changer.

my initial reaction was that i really liked the new direction of channels. thank you, finally :). 

after thinking about it (esp wrt to your cast), i love it. what you describe is a BIG net positive for new user onboarding + discoverability (via cozy corner curators) that i'm optimistic will help the network grow.

are channel feeds still limited to only showing the last 30 days?

If a user's cast is hidden by a mod, is there a way for a user to know that happened? I think it's kinda fucked up to cast something and be under the belief that it's visible when it's not. Can't have high trust in communities with that kind of information asymmetry.

How would one get people to follow a new channel when what i cast will stay in the channel and won’t go out to the main feed (imagine i’m a new warpcast user with not much followers and just created a new channel)

I've been narrow casting to dedicated channels up until now because I didn't think it was ideal for my native language Casts to appear in English-speaking followers' home feeds.

But with this new approach, it seems like my usage might fall outside the scope.
If my native language shows up in the home feed, I wonder if it'll be considered spam?🫠
