How will replies work from non-members with the new channel model? 1. Only members can create a new cast in a channel 2. Anyone can reply to a cast in a channel 3. On Warpcast, member replies will appear "above the fold" and non-members will be below the fold in "Show more replies" 4. However, if the original cast author likes or replies a cast from a non-member—or a channel mod likes or replies—the cast will appear above the fold. 5. This balances the membership model for channels with the ability for discovering new people, highlighting their reply and potentially inviting them to the channel. 6. Since you can have up to 10 moderators in a channel, including helpful bots, we expect that people will build bots that help surface interesting replies for non-members (and possibly even auto-invite them). Developers will get creative. 7. Ultimately, your channel, your rules.

Oh shit, so engagement from non channel followers will be below the fold unless I go looking for it and like it. In that case, can we get an automated way to invite all channel followers to be members? I would rather keep the experience for people as close to the same as it is today than to have a big chunk of engagement appear below the fold. It seems like it will be easier to moderate who can make new casts as opposed to looking below the fold on every cast to try and find which comments might be worthwhile. I know we'll have moderators to help, but in my experience, moderators treat it more like a passive role. "if I see something, I'll take care of it - but I'm not going to go looking for it." I know I could probably recruit better moderators too, but that's an entirely new system to think about as well.

If you invite 5K accounts and you have 1000 spammy lurkers today, you'll have a lot of work removing them while making your channel unusable. Anyone who has casted top-level in your channel will be a member Day 1. One other idea is you can get as many of your channel followers to either 1) cast now or 2) get them to join a group chat and then you'll be able to easily share an invite link.

Unless I use whatever will inevitably replace automod. Potentially Moxiesub to filter out who can make net new top level casts. Essentially keeping it similar to how things run today. FWIW - my comment sections aren't very spammy. I'm concerned that people have kind of been trained to ignore the 'see more replies' section. See more replies blindness so to speak, and if a lot of the channel's engagement ends up there, people may be less inclined to continue casting there as opposed to just sending it to their home feed.

So the number of channel members are going to "reset" or is going to stay the same number? Or is all this just for the next members?
