People should give feedback to channel owners that overuse announcements. 

Send a DC. Tag them in cast.

Co-create the community you want it to be.

And if they are not receptive, leave / unfollow / create a new one.

Stop thinking of channels as canonical topics.

I'd pay good money to mute channels now. I'm using keywords aggressively, but muting some channels themselves would clean up my timeline a bunch.

If you don’t follow a channel you won’t see announcements.

You’ll see casts from people you follow in your home feed. So can always unfollow if particularly bad.

I don’t want to unfollow friends but since narrowcasting is gone, there are certain topics I just don’t care about.
