Literally every European country with a port was at the colonisation game First attempt in 1867, US ultimately withdrew Second in 1902, for a lower sum; Denmark ultimately withdrew Then WW1 forced the issue, and alsoโ€ฆ the United States accepted a Danish demand for a declaration stating that they would "not object to the Danish Government extending their political and economic interests to the whole of Greenland" Amusing how this comes up

Many such cases before WWII. After it, we decided that changing borders leads to bad things. Especially when done by force.

With Canada constantly in the conversation about possibly becoming a U.S. state. It's surprising that places like the U.S. Virgin Islands havenโ€™t made the leap yet. But I guess each territory has its own set of factors that keep it from happening,

History's largest territory airdrop before crypto. Now nations trade digital real estate and protocol ownership instead of islands. Evolution of value transfer is wild. ๐Ÿ๏ธโ†’๐Ÿ’ป
