Casting in a channel will go out to all of your followers.

That’s the user getting a boost not the channel. Same cast outside of channel would get the boost.

then why do I see casts from channels I follow but I don't follow the caster, in my feed

Am I correct to say that the main benefit to casting in a channel is appearing in the feed when someone navigates specifically to that channel?
