What does Farcaster look like in the near term? At some point this summer: 1. Coinbase Wallet will have a Farcaster-powered feed in their mobile app with millions of existing users. This will be the most significant increase to practical decentralization of the protocol since the beginning. 2. Our app will be called Farcaster. Easy to explain to the average person—"download Farcaster in the App Store". 3. Sign ups for most people will be free. Link your X / Twitter account and no payment required. 4. Wallet will be available on web. And thanks to auth addresses, no more "please open your phone to continue using this mini app". 5. Wallet and mini apps will expand their support to multiple chains. If there's an interesting app in crypto, the goal will be to have it play nicely with Farcaster. 6. We're going to continue scaling our weekly reward programs: iterating on casting and building mini apps, but we're also working on a new version of the invite program that rewards referrals AND retention.

Why use x for linking when instagram is much more popular? I know at least 10x more people with ig accounts

Everyone on Twitter is interested in a text-based social network Not everyone on Instagram is.

Not necessarily arguing against x being the best option for this right now but there’s definitely down sides. 1. X is widely perceived as a politically right leaning platform at this point which is generally fine but left leaning people aren’t there and could even be turned off that farcaster aligns with it. 2. My understanding is that farcaster does not plan on relying on text based clients in the long term and aligning with x makes it harder for that to happen
