The reference point for modern awareness is the mind / thinking That’s why we label it as the “conscious” state and then relate other states to it (eg. subconscious) I think a more accurate reference point is the body — if we can anchor to being as the default state rather than thinking, we could live more harmoniously

Gut is a part of it, but honestly it's thinking in a less reductionist manner about the body entirely Ie. don't separate it into mind, gut, lungs, heart, etc. It's *one* thing, and the entire thing "thinks" -- the thinking in the mind is just a partial view of the fully conscious being
