in most creative endeavors, the amount of reps you do is the dominant variable in your success is that also true in filmmaking + acting?

Yes and no Some directors really are just unskilled enough to guide the actor to do his role from the first try on camera or let's say right "from the first few tries" And some can guide as easily as it can be like Nolan or Stanley. They are famous for doing so. But the first example takes so much time in shooting making it like an endless loop. ( This makes ppl don't like working with him) The second example is the people's fav.
