BMW has abandoned “experiments” with autopilot: it’s not worth waiting for now

BMW has officially stated that it does not intend to implement an autopilot that has not been thoroughly tested. According to the company’s Director of Customer, Brand and Trade Development Joachim Gauch, the brand will never test unproven technologies on customers and will not allow drivers to completely take their hands off the wheel, even when using advanced driving assistants.

In addition to developing the electric direction, BMW is actively working on digital services. The brand recently entered into a partnership with Huawei to integrate the HarmonyOS NEXT ecosystem into its cars. Owners will be able to use the BMW Digital Key, the MyBMW app and the Huawei HiCar system. The company is confident that digital technologies will become the brand’s key advantage in the coming years.
