Reverse at maximum speed: BMW will introduce innovative motors that will change the industry forever

BMW has introduced a new generation of Gen6 electric motors, which will form the basis of future Neue Klasse electric vehicles. One of the key improvements to the all-wheel drive system is the ability to activate the front motor when reversing on slippery surfaces such as snow and ice.

Previously, experts from Norway expressed concerns that the dual-motor BMW xDrive system in electric vehicles does not always activate the front motor, which can create problems when maneuvering in winter conditions.

The new BMW all-wheel drive system has received several key improvements:

The front motor (ASM) is activated when reversing, helping on snow and ice.

Reduced energy consumption compared to permanent magnet motors.

Reduced parasitic drag if the front motor is not used.

All-wheel drive is now activated in all driving modes.
