i know stated v revealed and all that, but let me tell you i hate my revealed pref and i wish there was a way to fight it (my revealed pref is eating all the candy, but i'd rather not to so i just throw it all out of the house).

@ds8 raises a great point that revealed preferences aren’t any more desirable than stated preferences just because of our natural inclination toward them.

i am sympathetic to the constant struggle with stated prefs when it comes to product. but users are like children too. you gotta steer them away from making bad decisions (as all parents know, raising children is 90% fighting their revealed pref).

fwiw, i think merkle does a great job in this most of the time.
