I was on reddit for years, but was slowly getting tired of all the bots and the toxicity. In December 2023, I first heard of farcaster/warpcast, but didn't want to pay $5 to get in. I was of the mind "why pay for social media?". Then in Jan 24 I accidentally stumbled onto Degen via coingecko, not knowing it was a warpcast coin. Bought a small bag, did some digging and then joined warpcast (on Feb 16). Really happy with myself for that... I still occasionally go to reddit, their subreddits are just vast, and it will be a while till warpcast channels get close to that.

mostly fine. There's still some "turf" wars but the toxicity is minimal. I am not so used to "twitter" type of SM. The fact a tweet/cast is basically obsolete and does not show after 4-5 hours still amazes me. The connections/relationships from being here, in a relatively small pond, is much better here than on Reddit. Basically from there I remember 3-4 people I met and interacted with (mostly on r/cryptocurrency). and again, even smaller subreddits have a huge following so you can ask something in r/homebrewing or any niche kind of interest, and you will immediately get a reply or a discussion. gravedigging a thread is not so uncommon. and it's searchable (both on site and on google), which is sth I miss here. also, one of the things I really miss (in warpcast) is layered/cascade replies. most of the replies here are hidden, and you have to click every single reply to actually follow the convo between two/three people, even if you follow all of the people having a convo.
