To me, this image conjure up a memory of the book West with the Night by Beryl Markham. She flew throughout Kenya during the 1920s and 1930s in a De Havilland Moth aircraft quite similar to this.

It’s fabulous. One of the greatest books I’ve ever read. Look it up, and you will see the caliber of the work, which has mostly fallen through the cracks in today’s media environment. I’ve read it several times because I grew up in a small aircraft, including bi-wing models
