The year is 1998 and I am a senior in high school and loitering at a mall with my as one did in 1998. As young punks there was nothing lamer than Abercrombie at the time and for some reason we thought it would be funny to go in there. When I saw the photo on the wall, I had the stupid idea to take a shirtless photo of us in front of it. My friends were instantly down and so I walked up to an employee and put on some weird vaguely european accent and said "hello will you take photo for us?" The guy nodded so I handed him a camera, which was just some cheap point and shoot camera, but loaded with black and white film so I could develop it in the darkroom at school. We stood in front of the photo, but before he could take the photo we all took our shirts off and posed like that. He had no idea what was going on but he still took the photo. We got dressed and got the fuck out of there. Story continues below... 👇

So I try and print it in my high school darkroom, but it's really just too dark because the flash didn't go off. I gave up but I guess I left the test prints in the darkroom somewhere. Fast forward a few months later and the high school yearbook is about to go to print and for reasons too boring to explain they had to remove one of the pages last minute. The yearbook staff worked out of the darkroom and so they scrambled and just dug through the prints that were laying around and without even asking permission they published this photo. I honestly just thought it was hilarious. Funny enough they also published this photo of me and my friend Emily that was taken by another photo student. She's actually a pro photographer now too. The end.
