Have been slowly re-watching The Soprano's. 

1. From a production value / aesthetic, holds up incredibly well relative to other "prestige" TV

2. Original viewing for me was 20 years ago. Hits way different with kids, inching closer to "mid-life".

3. Show is prescient in capturing the decline of Pax Americana civic religion / End of History / clash of tradition with modernity / "Bowling Alone" that started to accelerate at the turn of the century.

4. Gandolfini is top 10 all-time for a character portrayal.

i just started it for the first time, finished season 1

wildly good show and i was completely unprepared to focus so distinctly (in a really interesting way!) on mid-life depression

oh man, enjoy it!!

thinking i need to re-watch with all this talk. it’s so good
