Theater is closer to Life than Film: You are aware that what you are seeing in front of you is precious and will never occur again. You are aware of the off chance — however remote — that something totally unplanned can happen.

Theater makes “suspended disbelief” more possible because it has depth and sensorial layer. Film is only a flat visual experience. You kinda have to try harder to unglue from reality at the movies.
