Within two days of Brazil's X ban, Bluesky gained 500,000 users, with many also joining Mastodon and Threads. People often migrate to these (relatively) decentralized platforms to escape X, but this time, it wasn’t X pushing them away, they couldn’t use it. Decentralized social media is always open to everyone. https://www.theverge.com/2024/8/30/24232561/brazil-x-ban-sending-people-bluesky

First time I heard of Bluesky was actually because of this. Is it actually any good? Tried Mastodon a while back but seemed very dead. And Treads is just a cesspool of people trying to promote their get quick rich courses. https://warpcast.com/disky.eth/0x1bbe90cf

Their advantage is that they sound more decentralized, compared to Twitter.
