Wednesday pump days are back on @base ⬆️
In November the Base core engineering team paused gas target increases to focus on protocol analysis following the inclusion of fault proofs, and with great results, on Wednesday this week increases will resume
This week Base is pumping up the per-block gas target from 15 to 16.5 Mgas/s (+10%)
Gas target increases will happen every Wednesday and are part of continued, planned scaling efforts to bring a billion people onchain, and to make Base as fast and as inexpensive for everyone around the world
For builders and almost all Base users, no changes are necessary, but if you're running a Base Node and notice any latency after the increase:
1. Monitor CPU and Disk I/O usage
2. Enhance disk throughput and use disks with lower read/write latency (NVMe SSDs recommended)
3. Improve CPU, focusing on single-core speed
