Cryptography is "trust me bro" in that most people will never learn enough about cryptography to independently audit the claims made by systems that leverage it. But it cryptography literature is very upfront about the underlying assumptions.

Cryptographic signatures are kind of just in time as well for transferring assets right? If accounts could be migrated to a post quantum scheme or (plsno) a fork happens due to a quantum singularity deleting the security of the curve, the accounts could have migrated their keys and the nodes would ensure that the consensus was valid under the new key so breaking your old keys would be pointless. Not so fine for encryption I guess lol
