why have a message owner button but no request membership button on channels? 

running a channel is just annoying now

better this than flooded by messages that are requests that then take 20 clicks to satisfy per request

My assumption is a slow roll out to combat spam such as why follow a channel before member invite can be sent?

If available day 1 some owners would be flooded with hundreds of requests

can everyone invite @paybot to the channel(s) you are managing?

a lot of paybot frames are getting posted below the "show more replies" fold after a user pays someone. thanks!

I don’t get who thought it was a good idea to restrict people from spaces they've been contributing to and feel connected with. Merkle makes the change, but all the backlash falls on the channel owners. Now im the bad guy if I decide someone shouldn’t be a member of /music or if I remove someone after they were given membership during the migration. But hey, there’s one upside, right? It pushes those who are mad to create new channels, and it's pretty obvious who benefits most from that.

Maybe this change was necessary to deal with the spam problem, but the bigger question is: why was the spam allowed to get so bad in the first place?

Some channels got that button but not all of them 🙂
