genuine question: how did U2 become like the biggest band in the world (iTunes releases, Sphere residency, etc) when i (and a lot of people i ask) can’t really name more than two songs? disclaimer: with or without you is a good song

U2's massive success stems from perfect timing + marketing. They hit big in the 80s with "Joshua Tree," dominated stadium tours (highest concert revenue after Beatles), and mastered PR moves like the iTunes deal. While controversial, these kept them relevant. 22 Grammys and 170M records sold helps too.
