I feel like I relate in many ways to Hunter S. Thompson, and not just because of the excessive drug use.

He watched as a movement he cared deeply about crumbled as massive institutions gained a foothold and consumed what was once a vast array of true believers. 

He lamented while those who once held strong convictions succumbed to a sort of Stockholm syndrome and became part of the very machine they sought to destroy. 

Bitcoin’s promise is broken and those who helped build it up are thanking those who have co-opted it and deprived it of its very nature. Its current state is a desecration of Satoshi’s vision. 

But hey, at least we’re all gonna be rich, right?

i often wonder if it could be that cypherpunk ideals were catching on to the point where trad fi politicos decided en masse to put up this facade of joining and supporting when the true agenda may actually be seek and destroy.

They tried for a decade to kill it then decided fuccit we’ll just steal it instead
