Are memecoins good or bad? 

I think they sit somewhere in the triangle between buying pokemon cards and going to the casino and day trading. 

I don't personally don't do much of those things, but I understand the appeal and don't think we need to shame people who do it.

I think that they've historically not been great for the reputation of the industry. Sure, they help show volume and activity for investors, but the cost of that has been most non-Web3 native folks having their entire understanding of the technology as a vehicle for fraud, crime, and scammers.

Tl;dr, they've helped metrics to move the tech forward, but we'll be facing an uphill battle on the validity of the industry with the general public for years going forward as a result.
