Here it goes, let me confess to some crimes I committed a few years ago. I helped this Chinese student with his side hustle to buy LV bags in the official LV stores with CASH. Like €800-€1500 per bag. (That’s a lot of cash to be carrying around in Spain, it’s like the average salary for an entire month) He’d sell them to his Chinese clients looking for certain models that they could not find in China for much more money. He paid me €25 for each bag I bought. It was easy cash. I’m not saying I’m proud l, but it was kinda fun going into the stores acting like a Crazy Rich Asian and buying LV bags in cashhh and also refusing to give any personal information (bc LV likes to have their client info to prevent this from happening). It was the closest I’ve felt to living out my dream of being a trust fund (or sugar) baby. I’m such a sophisticated criminal. Arrest me.

I would say that while the attempt to combat theft is understandable, I should be able to buy products from a store without having to give them my personal information, especially if I'm using cash. I find the fact that so many places don't operate like this to be maddening in 2025.

You just need the audacity to answer their questions with a flat “no thanks” Store attendant: What’s your email? Me: No thanks. Store attendant: Ok what’s your phone number? Me: No thanks.
