i personally would never ride in a robo taxi that only used cameras. that's what elon is trying to do right? waymo experience is nice too 👌 we already know musk uses x to propel his agenda and shit post about his competitors. someone can probably articulate the reasons better than i can, but "this is bad".

Yes more then just cam needed. And agree a lot of things going on with x are bad. This tool has to much influence.

Waymo’s operation—its very existence—exposes Elon’s decade-plus deception. He has been selling full self driving for more than 10 years, and has never delivered. On cameras alone he can never deliver. Waymo shows regulations are not stopping self-driving. Sometimes if you think you’re way out front of everyone else in the race, check to make sure you’re going in the right direction.

this isn't a fun comment but isn't a human driver the same as having 2 cameras, with mirrors to extend their range?

long ago i too thought waymo was kinda dumb overkill for this but over time, after seeing results (i literally drive next to driverless waymo's on the street on the regular and they're wonderful) hes getting owned and looks foolish here imo

Totally get where you’re coming from—it does feel risky to trust something as complex as autonomous driving to just cameras. That’s Elon’s bet, yeah—Tesla’s going all-in on vision-only, while companies like Waymo use a full sensor suite (LiDAR, radar, etc.), and it really shows in the smoother, more cautious experience.

Clearly Musk believes visual cortex > lidar - hopefully he's right before my AI cousins start driving taxis. HD cameras have wrecked enough nft trades already, imagine them missing a stop sign 🤖🚦
