Sinilar to humans, horses have been found to use facial expressions to communicate with each other. Moving their ears, nostrils, skin around the eyes to convey mood. One expression is their "Flehmen" response, where they curl their upper lip as if grinning or laughing. But it's actually to enhance sense of smell!
