I am definitely a BOG WITCH. I don't work on my beach body, I work on my bog body. Great write up about Bog Witches here by @rickkitagawa 🧙‍♀️ Art by Rick 🧙‍♀️ https://open.substack.com/pub/rickkitagawa/p/are-you-a-bog-witch?utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=email

Thanks for sharing this! I feel like I should be a Bog Witch but don't quite have enough courage to be non conforming enough to get exiled. It would be freeing though! It resonates with this video some friends shared with me with another perspective on witches and you might also appreciate. Sorry that it is on FB, but still a good watch! https://www.facebook.com/share/r/15GKNzbxBm/?mibextid=rYkE1A

I was still able to view it and she is right!! I was really into learning about about "witches" when I was in high school because my aunt had a friend that called herself a witch. So of course, I was like "WTF?" and had to learn about it. Fascinating history which also makes me angry, basically just women showing their worth, showing their skills and the men not like liking that very much because ya know, the patriarchy. Same goes for medicine. Women who, by all definitions of the word, were practicing "medicine" were deemed to be witches because what the hell do women know about anything. Such BS and dumbfuckery on behalf of society. I probably would've stolen bodies to dissect so I could learn as well...men stole bodies too...but they weren't "witches". So yeah, I am def a bog witch....and I just love bogs....and bog bodies. So if I was one of Rick horror characters, I would be a Bog Witch.

Yes, that video resonates with all the things I’ve learned about medical science and its willful ignorance of women’s bodies. We ARE different and scary to men because we’re so much more complex than they are. Our brains ARE different because our hormones shape them differently and our hormones are more complicated than men’s. And all the things that are different about us threaten men in our patriarchal society because they can’t do the things that we can. So they subjugate us and vilify those attributes like high empathy, the ability to remember slights and grudges to excruciating detail as part of our survival skills, the ability to NOT think about sex all the time because we have more important things to worry about, among other differences. Midwifery was considered witchcraft because creating life in your body is kind of a magical and unexplainable thing for most of human history. And men are also afraid and jealous of that “power” whether they want to admit it or not.
