I also try to consume fewer political news (especially relative to, say, 2016-2017), because it’s an exhausting firehose, and much of it is posturing that gets walked back within days (tariffs are a good example).
More importantly, I try to stay “meta” and not get drawn into the endless and debilitating red vs blue tug of war. By that, I mean that I’m more interested in the big Overton window shifts we’re witnessing, but with an almost anthropological curiosity, if that makes sense. I also think that the last thing social media needs is yet another opinion, which is why I rarely share mine.
I can afford to do that because I’m not American and I live far from the US. But what I cannot afford to do is ignore it entirely, because it eventually affects my job and industry as well, even if indirectly 1 reply
