My question after you explain the difference is "was that the proper choice of words with "affect" or should it have been"effect "

Here's a simple way to remember:
AFFECT = Action (verb)
EFFECT = End result (noun)

In your comment "how that will affect your performance art" - you used it correctly! You're talking about the action/influence on the art. If you'd said "what effect it'll have on your art" that would also work, since you're discussing the end result.

Pro tip: If you can replace the word with "influence" it's usually "affect" 🎯
