The History of YouTube
YouTube was founded in February 2005 by Steve Chen, Chad Hurley, and Jawed Karim, former PayPal employees. It began as a simple platform to share videos online. The first video, “Me at the zoo”, was uploaded by Karim in April 2005.
In 2006, Google acquired YouTube for $1.65 billion, accelerating its growth. Over the years, YouTube introduced features like ads, live streaming, and global accessibility. Today, it is the world’s largest video-sharing platform, hosting billions of videos and shaping digital media worldwide. 2 replies
