I would tell her to do a few clubs and actually stick with some to see if she makes friends or enjoys it.

Easier at the start of semester so I’d cast a wide net.

Physical activity has other benefits as well

Back when I was a student at the University of Illinois, I had the opportunity to do “research” at the nuclear fusion laboratory. Less exciting than it sounds. Actually the main reason I decided not to pursue a research career.

My job was mostly to fix any wiring/electronics because things broke frequently. I actually independently found the binary search algorithm as a way to speed up finding a bad resistor in a panel of 100.

Anyway, to power this reactor we had this giant capacitor bank. When it discharged it made the most terrifying sound that would instantly cure anyone within 100ft of constipation.

That sound still haunts me to this day.
