Why is Phantom/OKX/Rabby wallet affecting Metamask? Some sort of dark pattern or bugs? I cannot use basepaint because I have phantom and metamask at the same time.. so freaking annoying..

Hi, I'm sorry you are dealing with this. Ethereum wallets inject a provider that websites use to connect to the wallet. When you have multiple wallets running at the same time, they don't work well together. You may have to disable the other wallets (Phantom/OKX/Rabby) to be able to use MetaMask.

We can actually help on this if anyone from the basepaint team is on farcaster. There are multiple ways to do this, but easiest is likely to add EIP-6963 support which you can get in multiple wallet libraries, including @dynamic @degencast.eth try testing it here: demo.dynamic.xyz

Hey there’s a setting in Phantom that lets you change your default wallet to Metamask and this should fix it for you!

A fix is coming soon for such problems. Thanks to EIP-6963. Lots of new projects should have this up in the coming weeks. But yea, it's mess until then

rabby has a flip option. phantom tries to override almost everything. some wallet kits let you have them all for different tabs without overriding one another or something like that.
