I personally think "own/control your own data" being the punchline for most web3 products is at best extremely weak esp. when facing consumers. Consumers don't tend to optimize for "safety" when they are looking for fun. It's rarely ever the primary hook.

As pointed out by dwr.. consumers don't care because for most of them their data is not valuable. But for devs and creators, their data is much more important. So it's again a matter of who is the target audience..

i believe in the ideal state of benefit to the developers for sure - but the process of getting to the ideal destination faces chicken/egg even to developers.

Yes you are right.. in the case of fc, dwr & hand picked community is the chicken. But I would love to know more pragmatic methods as for average devs it would be really tough
