This piece was originally found on Async.art as a programmable, interactive community artwork. Sitting above the base painting was a hexagonal grid of 'layer' NFTs. Each numbered hex was independently collectible, and perhaps most importantly, changeable.

Every tile layer NFT contained four 'states' - red, blue, yellow, and empty. Using tile 0,0 as an example, we can see this colour change also had an impact on surrounding tiles in a honeycomb pattern - you could affect your neighbours' tiles and be affected by all of their colour choices too.

Every tile was also individually named and described - some came with elaborate backstories and others were a simple play on words Fittingly, tile 0,0 is called 'The Beach of All Beginnings'. My absolute favourite part is the way the Async community took it and ran with it. Teams of red, blue, and yellow formed organically, allegiances changed over time, and the artwork changed consistently. We even had a brief period of 'peace' to see the underlying painting! All in all I think it was a success ❤️
