The fact it can only be earned is such a huge signal.

Agreed; but @coopahtroopa.eth won't see conversations that others may appreciate because of a metric intended to reduce spam that just leads to a culture of unintended (or potentially intentional) elitism.

The quality of discussion can get diluted by sheer volume, but it less volume degrades exponentially faster.
