I’ve been in Japan over a month and have observed people’s hand washing patterns over 100+ times now. People are fucking disgusting. Tourists and local alike. I’ve seen zero peple wash their hands properly. Zero. I carry soap with me. I worked in a lab all through college so proper handwashing it ingrained in me and after covid it should be top of mind for everyone. 25% of women skip washing their hands all together. Most Japanese women run their fingers only under the water for 3 seconds. Most tourists rinse their hands for 5 seconds. I’m not touching anyone here. Yall nasty.

I don’t understand how after covid people still don’t wash their hands!! So grateful to my mum for instilling that habit in us so when covid came it wasn’t a big change we just did it more often. As a med student i learn everyday how so many fatal infectious diseases could be prevented by simply washing hands it literally doesn’t take anything 😭
