Has there been any attempts at creating a standard room for telepresence? eg, if I go to a standardised room in NY and my friend in Paris does the same, with VR/AR + cameras it can feel like we are in the same room. Copy-paste room across the world.

Back when I was college (2010), I thought all major campuses should have something like this for students, parents, and their friends to visit while they're at school.
