Haha, in February of 2020 I launched ponzi.finance, which had some people playing with it early on, but was mostly dead. Out of nowhere, about a month ago, someone dropped some 0.11 ETH in, presumably to try to extract the remaining funds sitting in it, and just now someone dropped over 10 ETH, presumably to extract the other funds 😄 Looks like the fun tug of war game that I envisioned all those years ago is finally happening. Some pretty crazy maneuvers are possible, and now with $25k in the pot, we'll see what happens. https://etherscan.io/address/0xEB82AE50FA5b15FFc2699143b3da1B524127853B

Basically you put in deposits and they compound at an insane rate hourly, and you can withdraw whenever, but if you wait too long and try to pull out more than is in the pot, it just wipes out the deposit. Withdrawals are, by design, *highly* front-runnable, so you can knock out other players and take their ETH. 😁

Just a heads up, the website was created before connect buttons were a thing, so you need to connect manually to load the data. Maybe I should fix that if people are actually going to use it again 😅

ponzi.finance update: Looks like the person who deposited a month ago got spooked and exited, but they entered with 0.11 ETH and walked away with 0.18 ETH, so good for them 🎉 I haven't done the math yet but the big 10 ETH deposit might be stuck now unless they do some tricky maneuvering. 🍿

Was this inspired by powh3d, or fomo3d in any way?

this reminds me a bit of a game described in the paradigm fellowship application this year. the paradigm game starts with a pot of 1000 eth and anyone can make a bid of 1 eth, which gets added to the pot. if no one bids for ten blocks, the last bidder wins. very interested to hear your thoughts on how this game might play out
