The lie is that conservatives preserve rights. That’s only true for a subset of the population. They unequivocally suppress fundamental rights of large swaths of the population.

I def think that what hurts and what feels good is also relative, leading to the complication of my take. I can seem a bit short-sighted/narcissistic, but I do think absolutism is a useful perspective to have that modern society has demonized in favor of total relativism by saying “everyone is wrong and also right”
