Wack that Google's mission is "to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful" but if I want to search something across gmail and google drive I can't do it.

It’s funny that Apple Solves This. Use the default mail app with your gmail account and then search via Spotlight and there you go.

believe it or not, there are extremely strict and complex internal privacy policies in place. some self-imposed, others regulatory. cross-product data access and sharing isn’t something some random pm can get done. requires business justification and coordination at svp level and above

I had a team under me at Google building Google Cloud Search that did this and more. But the execs hated it... Not sure if it's been killed off by now. It was cool though. Glean has now been running away with this concept and executing well.

Yes. And the Chrome search result performance freezes to the point of making me use the DuckDuckGo to get a more responsive search.
