all blockchain fees will converge to zero i repeat: all blockchain fees will converge to zero now that L2s are ramping, this could happen within <2 years if you want to charge more than cost break-even, you'll have to offer something pretty special and unique

Projects that subsidize gas fees are unsustainable and will die unless they can gracefully transition to a more sustainable model. To me, fee subsidies feel like Walmart working to drive the local stores out of business with low prices in hopes to jack up prices later. Community owned infrastructure means everyone pays their part.

Do you mean just for the average consumer? If so, I agree, especially when L2 sequencers can essentially bootstrap most dapps and subsidise user fees using their sequencer revenue. But "ALL FEES" I disagree with. I'm sure L1 fees will never go to zero, as that would essentially negate the need for L2s and suggest a declining demand for blockspace.

Do you think this will force platforms to introduce ads if the fees go to zero? Or do you think the users will be willing to continue paying protocol costs as an alternative to introducing ads?

It's necessary to get people interested. I wanted to buy so much stuff in 2021, but it was just too much gas for my wallet size.
