1080p couch gaming is totally fine and most people sit so far away from their 4K TVs that the added resolution doesn’t matter anyway

Yeah, 1080p is fine. And 1440p upscaled to 4k, or 4k downscaled 50% with FSR/DLSS - gun to my head I would have to guess.
