What if our locus of control wasn’t directly behind our eyes? 

Interesting that our mind grew to present the world to our consciousness that way, rather than via e.g. a third person overheard view.

I wish I could shake that feeling. A lot of the meditations on Waking Up play around with the sense that you’re behind your eyes looking out at the world. I feel my brain breaking a little bit when I try really hard to pay attention to it.

Yeah, Sam Harris has drastically influenced my world view as well. Mostly positively, sometimes concerning upon reflection  :)
